11/21/2008 - Hong Kong (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Louis Oosthuizen fired an eight-under 62 on Friday to spotlight a four-way tie for the lead after the second round of the Hong Kong Open.
Oliver Fisher (65), Chawalit Plaphol (66) and European Ryder Cup team member Oliver Wilson (66) shared the lead with Oosthuizen at eight-under-par 132 heading into the weekend at Hong Kong Golf Club.
Colin Montgomerie (65) led a group of five players who stood one shot off the pace at seven-under 133 on a tight leaderboard. He was joined by Johan Edfors (65), Marcus Fraser (66), Francesco Molinari (67) and first round co-leader Richard Sterne (69).
John Daly (136), Bernhard Langer (136) and Jose Maria Olazabal (137) were among the 33 players who were within five shots of the co-leaders after 36 holes.
None of the co-leaders has ever won on the European Tour.
Oosthuizen earned his share of the halfway lead with eight birdies in a bogey- free round. The 26-year-old South African finished one shot off the course record of 61 shared by Henrik Bjornstad (2002) and Simon Yates (2006).
"I've been playing well for the last seven months, really, but I just can't get that final edge in," said Oosthuizen, who posted his personal-best score on the European Tour.
Wilson, who lost a playoff to Sergio Garcia at the HSBC Champions two weeks ago, mixed six birdies with two bogeys in his second round. He was a couple shots clear of the field before making a bogey on his last hole.
"I'm obviously pretty happy with the first two days," said the 28-year-old Englishman. "It has gone according to plan so far."
Fisher, the youngest among the co-leaders at just 20 years old, racked up five birdies in a spotless round. He got things rolling early on with three birdies on his first six holes, including two on approaches within a few feet.
"It is very good," said the young Englishman. "I played very solid and I am in a good position going into the weekend."
Plaphol also got off to a good start, making three birdies on his first five holes. The two-time Asian Tour winner added two more birdies later on, but was done in by a lone bogey at his 10th hole.
The cut line fell at even-par 140 with 82 players making it to the weekend, including defending champion Miguel Angel Jimenez, who made it on the number after shooting a 69.
Jason Hak, a 14-year-old amateur from Hong Kong, made history as the youngest player to make the cut in a European Tour event after his second consecutive even-par 70. He beat Garcia's record by 107 days.
Not so lucky was European Ryder Cup captain Nick Faldo, who went 72-70 to miss the cut by two shots.

LaDainian Tomlinson Favorite to be 2007 NFL MVP
With the first NFL preseason game less than two weeks away, it is time to start thinking about football once again at MySportsbook.com. Reigning NFL MVP LaDainian Tomlinson is currently the 5-1 co-favorite to win the award again alongside Super Bowl MVP Peyton Manning.
This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone after his all out assault on the record books last season. For those suffering from amnesia or were under a rock last football season, all L.T. did last season was set the NFL record for rushing touchdowns (28), total touchdowns (31) and total points scored (186) to go along with his 1815 rushing yards and 508 receiving yards. At 6-1, Tom Brady is next in line which isn’t surprising considering all of the firepower the Pats added over the off-season. With the addition of Randy Moss, Donte Stallworth and Wes Welker; it would be quite difficult for Brady’s numbers not to improve from last years 3529 yards and 24 touchdowns. There appears to be some decent value in Drew Bees at 10-1 considering he probably would have won the award last year if it wasn’t for L.T.’s record breaking season.
There is no reason to think the Saints will come back to earth this season and playing in a weak NFC, they should have as good a shot as any to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. At 15-1, Donovan McNabb could also be worth a look. Remember, many felt he was the MVP of the first half of the season before going down with a season ending injury. Reportedly, he is in great shape and well ahead of schedule to return to form. Also, he could have some added motivation to put up big numbers this season with the Eagles using their first pick in the draft on McNabb’s future successor Kevin Kolb.

El Duque expected to throw Tuesday
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- New York Mets pitcher Orlando Hernandez, sidelined at spring training because of arthritis in his neck, is expected to resume throwing on Tuesday.
Hernandez received a cortisone shot Thursday after leaving camp and returning to New York to have his neck examined. The 41-year-old right-hander is penciled in as the team's No. 2 starter behind Tom Glavine.
El Duque's health is a major issue for the Mets, who won the NL East in 2007 and came within one victory of the World Series. Their aging and unsettled rotation is a big question mark this year.
MySportsbook.com has the Mets as -110 favorites to repeat as NL East champions odds.
Hernandez went 11-11 with a 4.66 ERA last season, including 9-7 with a 4.09 ERA in 20 starts after the Mets acquired him from Arizona in late May. But he missed the playoffs because of a torn calf muscle.
New York already is without Pedro Martinez, out until at least midseason following rotator cuff surgery. Among those competing for starting jobs are prospects Mike Pelfrey, Philip Humber and Jason Vargas, plus veterans Chan Ho Park, Jorge Sosa and Aaron Sele.
Notes: Mets manager Willie Randolph is excited about two new utility players he could have on his bench: Damion Easley and David Newhan. ''Their value is really all over the place,'' Randolph said. Easley can play anywhere in the infield and could be used as an emergency outfielder, though Randolph said he would prefer to keep the veteran in the infield. Newhan, meanwhile, can play second base, third or any outfield position for the Mets. ''I love versatility,'' Randolph said. ''I love guys that can give me options when I need them to step in.''
